Virtual Tours can be best defined as a way to interact with an environment using your computer.
We produce virtual tours by using equipment and software that allows for a full 180 degree by 360 degree representation of the environment.  Many other virtual tour systems only show an "eye level view" which is a problem when showing  vaulted ceilings or a grand staircase.  That is why our motto is "Immerse Yourself in the Image, There are No Boundaries".  When the image moves on the computer it is often mistaken as a video.  In reality we use a digital camera and a wide angle lens.  We take a series of still photos and seam them into one large image.  This image in conjunction with a special software will allow the internet user to interact with the image, by panning right, left, up and down.  There are no limits.

Why not just use a video camera?  For two main reasons:  The internet users cannot interact with the image and the download time would be too long.  Dakota Virtual Tours understands that not all users have fast connections to the internet.  That is why we tailor the virtual tour productions to load fast, yet still keeping the image quality high.

In six years Dakota Virtual Tours has photographed over 3000 houses!  With an average of 5 scenes per virtual tour that comes to around 15,000 scenes produced!

While virtual tours are perfectly suited for the real estate industry, there are many other applications.  Museums, parks, health clubs, hospitals, hotels, hunting lodges and retail.  If an internet user can preview a place, they will feel more comfortable before visiting in person.  As an example, if a hunting lodge advertises "a centrally located fireplace with lots of seating," what really does that look like?  The only way to fully show an environment like this is with a virtual tour.
